How do we honor God?

::What shall I render to the LORD for all his benefits to me? I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD…:: ~ Psalm 116.12*13

Have you ever felt like the Psalmist felt when he wrote this passage?   Have you ever felt like you should do something for God to pay Him back for everything He’s done for you?  These verses communicate a beautiful truth.  All we have to do to “pay God back” is to continue coming before Him needy and broken, asking Him to fill our cup again and again.  So many people try to hide their struggles and minimize their pain, thinking that somehow their neediness reflects badly on God, who is supposed to supply all of our needs.  But that is a lie of Satan!  God has created us with short-comings because we glorify God when we depend on Him.

Don’t we serve an incredible God?  Isn’t it a beautiful truth that He doesn’t need us?  We honor Him by needing Him.  We glorify His power by coming before Him and acknowledging how weak we are.  All He asks is that we never forget our need for His grace in our lives.  So, keep running to Him!  Always, always, always.  His grace is more than enough for you and I.  Embrace Him.  Treasure Him.  Cast your cares on Him.  Don’t believe the lie that you must do this and this and this to be a Christian.

Aspire to live like you truly depend on the grace and mercy and power of God, in His strength.  That is the power of the cross!

About Joe Eaton

I praise God that my standing before Him has nothing to do with who I am or what I've done; it is found solely in the perfect life that Christ lived in my place, and His which atoned for my sin. "For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that IN HIM we might become the righteousness of God"..."There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."
