Joni Camp ’09!

I’m writing with a prayer request.  Tomorrow morning, I will be heading up to Joni and Friends Family Retreat in northern MN, along with about 60 other people from my church and many others as well.  We will be hosting around 35 families affected by disability.  This means that someone in their family has a disability.  Joni and Friends began these retreats to give these families a break from the normal routine of life.  The families are affected in some way by a wide range of disabilities, from cognitive or emotional disabilities to physical disabilities.  The camp has practically every outdoor activity you can imagine, entertainment at different points during the week, and children/youth programs in the mornings!  This is my family’s third year going to Joni Camp as volunteers.  Our family will have a number of responsibilities, including teaching/small group leading in the Jr./Sr. High program, being a 1-on-1 aid for children, and most likely helping in a variety of other contexts, depending on the needs that arise during the week.

I’d ask you all to pray that we would be filled with the Holy Spirit so that we can effectively minister to the families.  Also, pray that the families would be refreshed and excited once the week is over.  This is the most rest many of these families will get for a year.  They need God’s wisdom and strength!  Pray that the STMs (short term missionaries) will be well rested throughout the week.  We will get very little sleep and be working full-steam-ahead during our waking hours!  God is so good to give us just what we need every year.  Pray for little or no injuries/medical complications throughout the week also.

Thanks for praying everyone!  I will return next Tuesday, Lord-willing, and hope to write another update sometime later next week. 🙂

About Joe Eaton

I praise God that my standing before Him has nothing to do with who I am or what I've done; it is found solely in the perfect life that Christ lived in my place, and His which atoned for my sin. "For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that IN HIM we might become the righteousness of God"..."There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."
